Labyrinth Elemental Prayer Flags - $55.00

Inspired by ancient traditions and the healing power of the labyrinth, “Labyrinth Elemental Prayer Flags” were created by Carol Posch Comstock to be used as a visual meditation tool. Using her intuition and artistic license, she selected the labyrinths and colors assigned to each element as follows: Earth is represented by a “classical” labyrinth: this style has been around for thousands of years and most often associated with nature. Air is represented by the “Chartres” labyrinth, first created in the middle ages in a big airy cathedral, with a feeling of spaciousness. Fire is represented by a labyrinth called, “Mizmaze,” a turf labyrinth created in the late 17th century, with a flame growing from the unusual squarish shape. Water is represented by the “Shepherds’ Race” labyrinth, another turf labyrinth created in 1351; the spiral in the center  is reminiscent of water’s ability to move in this way. Ether or “Aether,” the “fifth element,” is represented by a seven-circuit circular labyrinth, an adaptation of the ancient classical style, with concentric circles embodying wholeness that also suggests the expansion of time and space.

Prayer flags are believed to produce a spiritual vibration that is activated and carried by the wind. Just as a drop of water can permeate and become part of the ocean, prayers dissolved in the wind extend to fill all of space. They are simple devices that couple with the natural energy of the wind to quietly harmonize the environment, impartially increasing happiness and good fortune among all living beings. The flags are gicleé prints on poly-silk fabric and are intended for INDOOR USE only,  insuring a longer life span, unlike traditional prayer flags, which are meant to be faded and shredded by the wind.
